Joseph Buonome Public Safety Awards, Student Scholarship Awards,
and Rotarian Installation Dinner
Joseph Buonome, East Haven Police Officer and East Haven Rotarian
The East Haven Rotary Club, which is now in its 83rd year, has announced this year's recipients of their annual Joseph Buonome Memorial Public Safety Awards. This year the club will be recognized East Haven Firefighter Kyle Kosiorowski and East Haven Police Officers Joseph Carangelo and Molly Perry. As is customary, the awards were presented at the Rotary's annual Installation of Officers Dinner, which this year held on Thursday, June 19. The event took place at Woodwinds in Branford.
Current President Joan Adamczyk turned over the gavel to Kirsten Dudley. New officers were installed for 2025-2026: Secretary Ashley Lesco; Treasurer Liz Esposito; and Sergeant at Arms, Joe Esposito.
In addition, the club recognized the winners of two scholarships to high school students and honoring them at this year's dinner event. Each year the club provides a $1000 scholarship in the name of former member Vincent Balletto, MD, to a graduating East Haven High School student entering the field of medicine. The club also awards another $ 1000 scholarship given to one of last year's Rotary "Students of the Month". This scholarship was recently renamed by the Club as the "John "Jack" Leary Memorial Scholarship", after long time Rotarian Jack Leary, who passed away during the past year.

This year's Joseph Buonome Memorial Public Safety Awards were presented to Jonathan Mustacchi of the East Haven Fire Department and Jonathan Trihn of the East Haven Police Department. Each honoree was given a CT General Assembly Official Citation, presented to them by Representative Zullo and Mayor Carfora. In addition, four Student Scholarship Awards were presented to graduating seniors.
The Dr. Balletto Scholarship was given to Widman Vicuna; Jack Leary Scholarship was presented to Amelia Westfall; Cassandra DeCicco received the EH Rotary Scholarship and Tyler Christie was awarded the Adult Ed Scholarship.
